Hi, I'm a UK resident and I have just obtained my ILR via the Tier 2 General route last week. I'm married to a British Citizen for the past 2 years. I was told I can immediately apply for naturalisation as I'm married to a British Citizen. Could you confirm if I'm eligible? Many thanks

Public Answer
Thank you for your question. Because you are married to a British Citizen you may be able to apply for British Citizenship straight away but you do need to have been in the UK for three years in total before applying.
Other qualifying criteria for obtaining British Citizenship include:
You are over 18 years old at the point of applying
You will continue to live in the UK
You have passed the ‘Life in the UK’ Test
You will need to show that you have not broken any Immigration laws in the UK
You are of a good character and sound mind
Our Immigration solicitors can assist you with making an application for British Citizenship and ensuring you submit the relevant supporting documents.
