Do I have any rights as a grand parent. My son’s ex is stopping me from seeing my much loved granddaughter, I have gone from having her every Friday on my day off and every other weekend to “ no you’re not seeing her” purely because my son has a new girlfriend. They have been split up 7 months and everything was ok until now. Please help I just don’t know where to turn all she will tell me is “you have no rights ”

Thank you for getting in touch with us.
In general, grandparents have (limited) rights but will need permission from the court if they are considering making an application to the court to see their grandchildren.
It is necessary to obtain permission first since grandparents to not have automatic rights or parental responsibility unlike a parent of the child.
