Hello, I Am International Student From The Us That Has Been Accepted To Scotland To Study My Masters

Hello, I am an international student from the U.S that has been accepted to Scotland to study my Masters for a 1 year program. I was just issued my CAS. I need a tier 4 student visa and wish to bring my unmarried partner with me to the UK as a dependent on my visa for the duration of my studies. What documents would you recommend be submitted to make our applications successful? (we will be applying at the same time in from our home country). Also- if the dependent visa is denied will it effect my own tier 4 student visa?
