Hello. I am a Nigerian national. I have been residing in the UK continuously for 5 years on a student visa. My current student visa expires on the 30th of Jan 2016. My circumstances make it difficult for me to return to the UK. Prior to coming to the UK my father passed away, and before he died, he and my mother separated but never got divorced officially for religious reasons. I have no ties to my mother. I have an uncle permanently settled in the UK. my siblings live in the USA. I am homosexual and fear persecution in my home country given the anti-gay legislation passed into law in Jan 2014. I have friends and uncle living in the UK. I want to know which immigration route is most suitable for me to remain in the UK. I am considering apply for asylum or discretionary leave to remain.
