HelloI am a EU citizen married to a British citizen for over 13 years now. I have been living in UK with my husband and family since 2016 (we lived overseas prior to 2016). As a EU citizen I have never applied for a permanent residence Card in UK as I was able to live and work here being a EU citizen. I understand I can now apply for a British citizenship after 3 years of living in UK as I am a spouse of a British citizen. My questions: 1) Do I need to have the permanent residence card as EU citizen in order to apply for British citizenship? 2) Do I have to have the card for 3 years before I can apply for British citizenship?

Thank you for your enquiry.
As an EU citizen, you would need to have permanent residence/settlement prior to applying for citizenship. In relation to the residence requirement for your subsequent citizenship application we can advise you about this properly in a consultation. Our consultations are normally an hour and fee for the same is £180 plus VAT which gets deducted from the overall cost of the case should you decide to instruct us with the matter.
