Hi, I am a Bahamian seeking advice on British Citizenship. My grand father & grand mother were born in the Turks & Caicos Islands (A British overseas territory). My father was born in the Bahamas in August 1963. At the time of his birth, the Bahamas was still a UK colony making him a BOTC at Birth. I applied for British citizenship but was declined as they stated he gained BOTC through decent and I would need to get Naturalised. However, based on current law he gained BOTC in his own right. Can you advise on how I should proceed or if my case is viable?

Public Answer

Dear Sir, in order to establish whether you may have a claim to British Citizenship, you would need to explore your father’s eligibility to British Citizenship as former member of a UK Colony. To proceed further with your matter, one of our Immigration advisors who specialise in British Citizenship shall be in touch shortly.
