How do I calculate the financial requirement for a family visa?

  • Posted on

Hi, I am in a relationship with an overstayer from Brazil. I am a UK national. We both live in England. If we are to get engaged and apply for a Fiance visa, would I need to have been in the same job earning £18600 for at least 6 months? I have earned way above this for the past 4 years working for an employer, but plan on changing jobs soon. If my new job pays over £18600 would this still meet the financial requirements even though I hadn't done the same job for 6 months consecutively? Thank you

Thank you for your enquiry.

If you start a new job and are still over the threshold amount then you would likely need to apply under Category B of the Financial Requirements. This would mean that you would need to provide income for the previous 12 months prior to the application.
