Women in Law – Teni Shahiean to speak at Royal Courts of Justice

  • Posted on

OTS Solicitors are delighted to announce that Teni Shahiean, co-founder and recommended Legal 500 lawyer, will be taking part in a panel discussion on equality in the legal industry at the Royal courts of Justice. The event will feature a number of inspirational women lawyers and OTS are proud to be involved.

Taking part in the panel discussion alongside OTS’s Teni Shahiean are a number of other influential women in law including Catherine Bamford, CEO and founder of Bamlegal, Jenny Beck, Director of Beck Fitzgerald, pupil barrister Aphra Bruce-Jones and Camilla Chowdhury-Khawaja, The Women’s Lawyer.

As co-founder of OTS along with Oshin Shahiean, Teni Shahiean is well placed to discuss the issues affecting women in law. After qualifying as a solicitor, she worked in a leading central London Immigration practice before setting up OTS Solicitors in 2014. Alongside her experience as a leading Immigration and Employment lawyer, Teni is an active member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and the Law Society’s Human Rights International Action team. She is a regular contributor to talk shows and panel discussions and has appeared on the BBC Two Victoria Derbyshire programme as an Immigration law expert to discuss the topic of an EU in/out referendum and the consequences of Brexit on Immigration policy in the UK.

The event at the Royal courts of Justice is organised by the Personal Support Unit, a charity which uses a network of over 700 volunteers to provide support and guidance to those facing court proceedings without the services of a lawyer. Over drinks and canapes, discussions around career progression for women in the legal industry are bound to be lively and positive, while addressing some serious issues affecting all in the legal profession.

The event at the Royal courts of Justice takes place on Tuesday 2nd October 6 pm-8.30 pm and the £10 ticket price includes drinks and canapes. Anyone interested in the event can book online at https://bit.ly/2ourSPp or by emailing alumnievents@thepsu.org.uk
