I Have Lived & Worked In The Uk As French National Since Nov 2006 I Have Just Received My Residence

I have lived & worked in the UK as a French national since Nov 2006. I have just received my residence card however the HO only gave me settled status date of March 2018 (RC and letter). The case worker suggested that I can apply for citizenship now (i.e. not wait 12months) and provide extra earlier years of residence in my citizenship application to which they will consider. Are there precedents in doing this? What are the risk of my application being rejected? I am willing to enlist the help of a solicitor to build my application.
